We Did It!!!!

We survived our first event! And I couldn’t have done it without the help of my friends, family, and coworkers, who came to support me. And to all of you who stopped by to shop and talk with me! There were a few snags at the beginning, but once we got through them, it was smooth sailing and a lot of fun.

Ok, let me set the scene… It’s October 18th, the night before our first event, and I realized… I didn’t create an item in inventory for all my blind dates, AND I forgot to add the last minute books to inventory - queue panic and a freaked out husband as I zigzag trying to right all the last minute wrongs. My husband sat me down, handed me the laptop, grabbed the first book, and we searched to make sure it was in the inventory before moving on to the next.

Flash forward to the day of the event, and everything is going smoothly for set-up. My hulk of a husband was bringing everything in while I was setting up the shelves. The lady in the booth next to me was so nice and helped me as her booth was already set up and started placing books on one of shelves, while I worked on the other,  and the hubster moved on to setting up the backdrop. My friend, J, who volunteered for the first shift of helping at the booth, showed up, and we finished setting up the table and getting all the last minute pieces before the doors opened.

Now, the doors are open, and right off the bat... we hit a snag. The first person to purchase something was my friend, N, and it was a blind date… BUT apparently,  I didn’t hit save when we were done with the blind date inventory last night - SO IT DIDN’T SAVE! So queue panic and embarrassment, as I scrambled to create the item and finish the transaction. Thank the book gods that it was my friend and not a stranger. lol

So moral of the story for those who want to open a shop and have last minute items… MAKE SURE YOU HIT SAVE! LOL.

All in all, with the snags and the hiccups, I couldn’t have asked for a better first event. I met so many wonderful people, I got to do my favorite thing (besides reading and crochet) - talk books with people and help them find their next obsession. So thank you all for coming and making this dream come true!
